Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812
|
For this production, the director's concept was to mix period 1812 with the punk aesthetic, much like the musical's mix of classical opera and 90's club music. Certain characters were completely period, completely punk, or a mix of the two, while the ensemble was mostly punk with hints of the period. Review
"Max Cotman’s costume design also underscore that layering and subverting: costumes evoke the vintage of the period but with sharp anachronisms like too many zippers or too-sharp lapels run up against winks to punk and grunge fashion like motorcycle jackets and fishnets." - Richard Sanford, Columbus Underground |
